People’s Choice: Favorite Beach on Nantucket & Martha’s Vineyard

Last week, we kicked off our first Instagram Stories Poll and it was a success, thanks to you!

What is it that draws people to the Cape? Well, other than its history, local eateries and watering holes, a big draw is its beaches of course. And in the spirit of good, Cape Cod summer fun we asked locals to chime in and vote for their favorite beach on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. After all, who knows the best spots better than locals?

Competition of the Beaches

The voting was swift and exciting… on each island, we tallied the top 4 and this is what you came up with:

Nantucket‘s Top Four Beaches: Cisco, Nobadeer, Madaket, Surfside

Martha’s Vineyard Top Four Beaches: Katama, South Beach, Norton Point, Lucy Vincent

We keep the competition going to slowly narrow it down. The voting was intense (hard to choose when all beaches here are so beautiful!) and resulted in two final contenders for each island:

Nantucket: Cisco versus Madaket
Martha’s Vineyard: Katama versus South Beach (so the funny thing here is that they are the same beach – oops)

And then it was time for the FINAL ROUND!

The Best Island Beaches as voted by the people, for the people are Cisco and South Beach!

The best beaches in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard

Nantucket’s Best Beach: Cisco

Cisco Beach is a Nantucket Land Bank property. It is located on the south shore of the island, 4 miles from where we dock. Known for its soft sand and is extremely popular with surfers. Known for its soft sand and rip currents, this beach is very popular with surfers and young adults.

Martha’s Vineyard’s Best Beach: South Beach

South Beach aka Katama Beach is located in Edgartown, about 11 miles from where we dock. One of the most popular beaches on the island, it is both open to the public and free. Facing the Atlantic Ocean on the south side of the island, you’ll find fine surf on one side and a protected salt pond on the other.
