- Deckhands – Seasonal, requires evening and weekend availability
The primary duty of a deckhand on board any vessel is to ensure the safety of passengers and crew and support an exceptional passenger experience. The deckhand’s responsibilities include the following; constant monitoring of decks to ensure comfort and safety of passengers, maintaining cleanliness of the vessel, assisting with loading and off-loading of passengers, bikes and luggage, handling docking lines, standing wheel watch (steering), standing bridge/bow watch, performing engine checks, and participating in ongoing safety and security drills. The successful candidate must have a committed work ethic, a positive demeanor, a willingness to learn new tasks and take directions from superiors, and great customer service skills.
Minimum age requirement of 18 years. Pre-employment and random drug screening required.
NANTUCKET – All applicants must have on-island housing
The Linesman works with the Dockmaster to manage and coordinate activities on Hy-Line Cruises’ wharf area. With a focus on ensuring exceptional customer service, this position has a broad range of responsibilities which include; directing passengers to correct boarding areas, maintaining crowd control, ensuring boarding lines do not block storefronts, maintaining communication with incoming vessels, scanning boarding passes, operating the luggage mule, coordinating the carts on and off the boat, and assisting the Mate and other Crew as needed. The Linesman also ensures that gangways, ramps and boarding areas are clear, clean, and safe for passengers and staff. Schedule and hours vary.
- Ticket Agent – Nantucket office, part-time positions requiring evening and weekend availability
With a focus on exceptional customer service, the Ticket Agent’s responsibilities primarily include; making, changing, or confirming reservations via phone and in-person. Reservations are made using computerized software specific for recording the reservation and issuing tickets. Ticket Agents must provide accurate information regarding Hy-Line’s services and policies, reconcile ticket sales and receipts, respond appropriately to comments or complaints, and resolve passenger issues, as best as possible, to the satisfaction of the customer.
Excellent phone manner, customer service experience, and strong computer skills required. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age and obtain work permit if hired prior to age 18.
