Peoples Choice: Favorite Spots for Drinks on Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket

Well, summer on the beach has been very hot. This makes us very thirsty. The question: where is your favorite island place to grab a drink and stay hydrated?

Summer is a time of possibility. The longer hours of sunlight can brighten any mood, and even if you’re working hard you still feel like you have time to relax and hang out with your people. You grab a drink to catch up, to gossip, to start your night, to plan future events, to complement your meal.. many of us have even been grabbing a drink to Zoom. Who saw that coming? Certainly not me.

Where to Drink on the Cape

As always, we started out with a handful of options, all nominated by our Instagram followers. Frankly, any of these would be a great option to visit for a drink, but of course, we had to narrow it down to the best!

Nantucket’s Top Places to Grab a Drink: Cisco Brewers, Cru, The Gazebo at Harbor Square, Sandbar at Jetties Beach

Martha’s Vineyard Top Places to Grab a Drink: Nancy’s, Sand Bar & Grille, Lobsterville

After a ton of participation from locals, the results were narrowed down to the top two for each island:

Nantucket: Cisco Brewers versus The Gazebo at Harbor Square
Martha’s Vineyard: Nancy’s versus Sand Bar & Grille
Just note that Cisco on Nantucket was runner-up in our last poll of best places to visit on the island (hint-hint).

Where to Drink on Nantucket

Cisco Brewers has aptly been named the Happiest Place on Earth by me. It has also been named a Noteworthy Place and #2 Most Instagrammable spot on Nantucket in our onboard magazine. Cisco, for many, is the destination of their Nantucket trip – the main attraction. Also home to Triple Eight Distillery and Nantucket Vineyard, this is island living at its best. Cisco is located out of town next to Bartlett’s Farm, and the vibe is chill and friendly. Everyone hangs out, enjoys the laid-back farm atmosphere with their families, brings their dog, plays games like cornhole, enjoys live music and amazing food truck eats. It really doesn’t get better than a day at Cisco.

Where to Drink on Martha’s Vineyard

Nancy’s is on the water in Oak Bluffs harbor. With plenty of outside seating, it is the place to grab a drink, people watch, and boat watch. Looking at their rave reviews, Nancy’s receives a Certificate of Achievement in Frozen Drink Achievement. You must try their signature cocktail, the Dirty Banana, which is basically a mudslide with banana liqueur. They are also well known for their frozen lemonade, rum runner, and margarita. “This is an excellent place to grab some frozen drinks and sit outside by the waterfront to do some people watching.” TripAdvisor Review

There are so many memorable places to grab a drink on both islands, but these are two you definitely don’t want to miss! And if you can’t choose between the two? Just hop on the Hy-Line inter-island ferry and we’ll take you to your next drink!
