Going for a Vineyard Stroll

Gingerbread Cottages

Gingerbread cottages in Martha's VineyardOur #1 choice for most Instagrammable spots in our onboard magazine! Built-in the 1800s, the cottages are within walking distance from our dock. You’ll find more than 300 colorful cottages that look like they were built using a cookie cutter and decorated with frosting. The color and intricate detail of each cottage are one-of-a-kind. At the center of the “campground” is The Tabernacle.  According to the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association: “Architecturally, the Tabernacle is a unique structure, with wrought iron arches and supports, two clerestories with dozens of colored glass windows, and an octagonal cupola. In 1979, on the Centennial of the Tabernacle, the MVCMA was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 2000, the Tabernacle was designated as an official project of ‘Save America’s Treasures.’” It’s easy to see why the Gingerbread Cottages in Oak Bluffs are on the “must-see” list.
