Sightseeing Tips & Tricks

We offer more than just island ferries! In season, we operate sightseeing trips in Hyannis and Onset. If you’re not looking for an entire day on the water, but a shorter excursion to highlight your day, we’ve got you covered!

Hyannis Harbor Cruises

Available mid-May through mid-October, and depart from 138 Ocean Street, Hyannis. This is not where the island ferries are docked, but at the north end of Ocean Street (behind Spanky’s). Parking is available along Ocean Street in the metered spaces (operated by the Town of Barnstable) and we have our own lot located at 110 Ocean Street.

These one-hour cruises sail from Lewis Bay, into Hyannis Harbor, on the way to view the Kennedy Compound in Hyannisport. Featuring live narration, your guide will point out local area landmarks and share stories and history that include aspects of our maritime industry, the people who established our waterfront community, and some of the area’s most interesting sights. For more info, check out this blog post!

M/V Viking is a 65′, two deck, steel vessel. The bottom or main deck is completely enclosed while the top deck is open with a canopy covering 2/3 of the space. You can access the main deck by a stairwell. There is a snack bar selling snacks and beverages of various kinds. There are two restrooms onboard Viking, on the main deck to the left as you descend the stairs.

We encourage you to dress for the weather that day, from sunscreen to layers. If you want, you can bring your own snack or (non-alcoholic) beverage, but glass is not allowed. We ask that you proceed with caution when moving about the vessel. Smoking is not allowed on any of our vessels.

We own and operate one parking lot for this service on Ocean Street. Use GPS 110 Ocean Street to come directly to this lot. The cost is $7.

Cape Cod Canal Cruises

Available mid-May through mid-October, and depart from 184 Onset Ave, Onset, MA 02558.This is about a 25 minute drive from our Hyannis location, and is on the mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal. Our dock is located within the Onset Town Pier parking lot, where parking is available for passengers within metered spaces.

Two and three-hour sightseeing cruises are available, so whether you want to explore 2/3 of the canal or make your way down it’s entire length you can. Featuring live narration, your guide will point out local area landmarks and share stories and history with you along the way. Points of interest include Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Sagamore Bridge, Bourne Bridge, Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge, Gray Gable, Herring Run, Aptucxet Trading Post, Scusset Beach Fish Pier, Sandwich Boat Basin and Cape Cod Bay.
