Position Description: Maintenance Mechanic Assistant
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Location: Hyannis MA
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic Assistant works with the Mechanics to repair and maintain our vessels, including four high-speed catamarans, one fishing vessel, and two sightseeing boats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Repair or conduct maintenance, as assigned, with any component of the vessel depending on skill level. Components of the vessel include engines, electrical, piping and hydraulics.

Use a variety of tools and machinery to effect repairs.

Clean, sand, paint vessels and related equipment.

Complete work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds and safely perform the essential duties for the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, and must be comfortable using stairs, being in small areas, working from ladders or scaffolding at heights up to ten feet.

Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications:

Must have a valid driver’s license. Will conduct driving record search.

Required Education and Experience:

Mechanic training at a technical school preferred, but the right candidate will have the appropriate mix of training and hands on experience.

Typical Work Environments:

Work is performed outdoors, on the vessels, or inside the maintenance shops.  Mechanics work in Hyannis primarily but sometimes at shipyard locations depending on where the vessel is being serviced.  There can be significant noise related to machinery and daily work environment.
