Freight

Freight Policy

As a passenger-only service, Hy‐Line Cruises does not carry cargo or large freight. We do, however, carry small hand-loadable freight items in an effort to serve customers with those needs.

Our ‘hand freight’ policy is in regard to easily loadable and reasonable amounts of boxes, totes, materials and equipment, and items such as windsurfers, kayaks, etc. All commercial items or items for resale are considered freight whether accompanied or not and require completion of a freight form and payment.  This policy does not affect the carriage of reasonable amounts of personal affects and luggage by passengers.

Freight items should be able to easily fit into the cart. In the event that the item(s) will not fit on a cart, their carriage can not be guaranteed. If items are deemed overly bulky and/or heavy, we will not be able to transport them.  This includes items such as large appliances, furniture, and art.  Individual items should not weigh more than 50 lbs. each.  Abnormally large amounts of freight may not be able to be accommodated, this is at the discretion of the Parking Manager, Parking Supervisor, Dock Manager or Operations Personnel on duty at that time. If you are looking to transport items such as these or large amounts of freight, please contact your preferred freight trucking company.

Appropriateness of articles, their carriage and charge, cannot be guaranteed over the phone. Upon arrival at the terminal, please check with the Parking Supervisor or Operations Personnel to determine the appropriateness of your freight and the required charge. Freight charges must be paid for, and any associated paperwork must be completed before the item(s) can be loaded on the vessel. Items being transported for resale will be considered freight subject to charge and not as personal items. The fee for freight transport will be calculated by the Parking Manager, Parking Supervisor, or Operations Personnel on duty at that time.

Our ability to transport items may be limited and cannot be guaranteed on very busy trips or days such as, but not limited to, holidays or island events.  The vessel captain has final discretion on whether items can be accommodated on a departure.  In addition, as with all baggage, all items are subject to security opening and inspection.
