2024 Season Wrap Up

Depending on who you ask, the Cape and Islands may or may not have been busy this season. From the captain’s view, we were docked squarely in the “busy” column. And the weather was pretty spectacular. Hot without being oppressive – just enough to drive people from the city to the seaside. And not too windy, which is clearly our preference.

Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine

This summer season we tried out some new specialty cruises with Cape Cod Canal Cruises and Hyannis Harbor Cruises. In both locations – Onset and Hyannis – we added Back 2 School Trivia. It’s a great, interactive experience on the water with the chance of winning a gift card to some of our favorite local businesses. We look forward to welcoming more of you onboard for trivia in 2025! On the Canal, we transitioned our 2-hour sightseeing cruise at 4:00pm to a new Yacht Rock Cruise and people LOVED it! It was a chill, on the water experience where we saw strangers become friends tied together by their love language of singing along with some easy listenin’! In Hyannis, our beloved Ice Cream Float had a makeover and reboot! This specialty cruise was taken offline because of COVID and we were so happy for its return in 2024. We partnered with our friends at Cape Cod Creamery (who also joined us on the dock this year) and the Ice Cream Float never tasted so good!

Celebrity Notables

while it is not uncommon for us to have a celebrity sighting every so often, there were a couple of celebrity-centric occurrences this year worth sharing. You may not know, but we own a sightseeing bus tour company on Nantucket, Nantucket Island Tours. In addition to tours, their busses are also available for private charters. With the Nantucket destination wedding business booming, they have been a very busy bunch! In early September, Beyoncé’s assistant was married on-island and they chartered Nantucket Island Tours for their wedding transportation. WOW – Bey was here! Also, mere days before this wedding something happened that we’ve been anxiously waiting for more than a year.  The Perfect Couple was released on Netflix! Did you see us? Way back in May 2023, we welcomed cast and crew to film scenes onboard Grey Lady as well as the North End of our dock on Ocean Street in Hyannis. The North End had been transformed into the dock on Nantucket for the film. It was great to see the end result of the filming. And the funniest part is that when they were filming it was so cold; but the audience sure believed it was summer! No lie, we were fangirling over ourselves a little bit.

Phew! We have to admit, we’re a little tired. We are all welcoming the shift to a lower gear to recharge our batteries.
