Position Title – Systems Assistant
Reports to: Operations System Administrator
Location: Hyannis
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Human Resources: Cheryl Barrows
Summary:
The systems assistant will support the operations system administrator to ensure company technology runs smoothly and supports delivering exceptional service. Assists with various hardware and corresponding software tasks related to our VOIP, mobile phones, security cameras, point of sale tablets and related devices. This position is hands-on and on-site. Tasks may include commissioning and decommissioning seasonal locations, in season maintenance, and project support.
This includes hardware and technology on our water-going vessels: including ferries to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, as well as fishing and sightseeing boats, including one at the Cape Cod Canal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Clean, test, and organize point of sale, phone system, and camera hardware.
- Track inventory and maintain records as assigned.
- Test and trouble shoot printers, cash drawers, and cameras.
- Assist with hardware install, replacement, and removal.
- Pack and ship hardware as needed.
- Pull cables and assist with wiring changes.
- Assist with systems projects as assigned.
- Update system documents, instructions, self- help trouble shooting guides, as assigned.
- Provide frontline support for Point of sale, Voip, and CCTV hardware and software issues, ensuring our systems stay up and running.
Other Duties:
Other related duties may be required as needed or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- Must have a minimum of High School diploma.
- Associates Degree or secondary education in Information Technology, Systems Tech Support or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with front line hardware and related software systems.
- Installation experience preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to use logical thought processes, problem solving skills, excellent communication skills, ability to work within strict deadlines while dealing with a broad range of questions and/or issues, and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to solve problems and approach challenges creatively.
- Current technical knowledge, comfortable working with others, or independently, and accurate record keeping skills.
- Must be comfortable with manual, hands-on work, maneuvering in awkward spaces, and occasionally climbing ladders (up to 10 feet) to access work location.
- Typical Work Environment:
Work is primarily indoors, but the nature of the business located in a harbor/ marine environment may require outdoor work in variety of weather conditions as well as travel via ferry to island locations. Personal vehicle travel in Hyannis area and to/from Onset.
