What To Expect on a Hy-Line Fishing Trip

Did you know Hy-Line Cruises offers fishing trips? Right on our Ocean St. North End dock in Hyannis, we take groups of all experience levels out to Nantucket Sound to have some fun and hopefully catch a lot of fish! These trips started operation in 1966 and have been going strong ever since. With so many options on Cape Cod to go fishing, you may wonder what a Hy-Line fishing trip is actually like. We have all the answers for you here!

What to Bring on your Fishing Trip

Deep Sea Fishing CruiseThese trips fill up quickly, so be sure to make a reservation. Take a look at our deep sea fishing schedule and figure out which trip is best for you. We offer half-day and 2.5-hour trips, rod rentals, and remember bait is always included.

Once you get here, you will grab your ticket from our friendly north end ticket agents, and then hop in line at the dock to board our fishing boats. With plenty of rail space for each passenger, a covered seating area in the center of the vessel, and knowledgeable staff to help with any questions or assistance you may need. Remember that the weather will have a great impact on your trip, and you should come prepared with the right clothing, sunscreen, jackets, hat, and shoes to ensure your comfort and safety onboard. Closed-toe shoes are definitely the way to go! Feel free to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks, no glass please, and enough room to bring back your catch! Speaking of – for a small fee, our staff will happily process the fish you catch for you, so you can leave the mess on board.

Catch some fish with Hy-Line!You’ll start out the trip with a short ride out to Nantucket Sound where the captain will take a look at local reports and put you right on top of the action. You’ll then get a short instruction, a bucket of bait, and you can have at it! The travel times are approx. 15-20 minutes out and back, so you definitely have a lot of time to spend having fun fishing. The comradery of fishing with others is unmatched, and quickly everyone on the boat is cheering each other on and having a great time! Don’t wear clothing you don’t want to get messy, as fishing in close proximity to others is not exactly a neat process.

Why Fish with Hy-Line Cruises?

Why book a fishing trip with us instead of fishing from a dock or on your own boat? It all comes down to 2 things, knowledge, and attention to detail. Our staff knows where the fish are, what bait to use, and how to help you have the most success out on the water possible. Whether you are a novice or experienced, you will appreciate their attention to the success of their passengers as well as the support and friendly service they provide during your trip. Why choose our fishing trip instead of booking a private charter? Because the more the merrier! It is fun to hear others cheering as they catch fish, chat with the other passengers about their experiences, and just be a part of an “event”. If you go on a private charter, you may get more one-on-one time with staff, and it will be only your party, but the increase in expense is considerable.

Fishing trips are available all summer! The 2023 season runs through September 4th. This year, we are offering 2 trip options, a 4-hour or a 2.5-hour bottom fishing trip. This allows you to get either a half day or just a taste of the experience and get out into Nantucket Sound where the action is happening! Children are welcome to join in the fun, but this trip is not recommended for children under 5, and no one under 16 is allowed to board without a responsible adult.  For schedule and pricing information, click here.
