Make the Most of Your Trip with Hy-Line – READ THIS FIRST!

Going on a trip, whether it is for a day, a week, or a multi-city adventure, is exciting! So many adventures to have, moments to relax, and memories to make with family and friends. However, the logistics of traveling? Not always the most fun part.

We want your trip to go smoothly when you travel with us, so we rounded  up some of the most frequently asked questions about taking a trip on our ferries, and answered them here for you to reference. If video is better for you, you can watch our vlog from a few years ago detailing what happens when you get to Hy-Line. Here it is!

Arriving at a Hy-Line Cruise Terminal

Taking our ferry is fun, easy, and very comfortable, but it can be intimidating if you’ve never done this before. When you get here, you pull into our terminal and speak with our parking attendants who will take your baggage and ask if you have a parking reservation. If you do, they will direct you to the lot you’re parking in. If you are going to the offsite lot, there is a shuttle service that gets you back and forth and runs all the time.

After you walk or shuttle back from your parking lot, you will go ahead into our ticket office and pick up your boarding passes if you didn’t receive online boarding passes already. Hy-Line CruisesThey will give you the boarding passes for all of the legs of your trip, so be sure to put them in a safe place. After that, you can either enjoy the view of the harbor from either the Landing Café for a quick bite to eat or something to drink or you can walk over to Bismore Park.

If you don’t have time, you will go directly to our boarding lines. There are separate boarding lines for each dock, so you will want to make sure you know which one to be in. There will be an announcement when the boat is about to start boarding, and you will be on your way in no time!

FAQs about Traveling with Hy-Line

I have a barcode on my phone, do I need to get a paper ticket, too?

No – definitely not! If you have the boarding pass on your phone just make sure you have it out and ready for our crew to scan when you get to the front of the boarding line. This shouldn’t be an issue, but it is worth noting to make sure you have the boarding passes for each leg of your trip, otherwise, you will need to pick up the ones you don’t have.

What does it cost for my dog to ride the ferry?

We love dogs and all of our trips are dog friendly. There is no additional cost for your furry friend to join us.

I lost my tickets, what do I do?

No worries! We can look up your trip for you and reprint the tickets. If you have the booking number to give to the ticket agent the process will be quicker, but even if you don’t we’ll be able to help!

What happens if I miss the boat?

Oh no! That can be really stressful, but don’t worry, we will get you on the next available trip!

Can I change my trip time?

Absolutely! Up until an hour before the original trip departure you can get in touch with our ticket office and change your reservation.

How does parking work?

Parking reservations are made either with your ferry tickets or by calling or parking gazebo where they will assist you with making one. Once you are here, you will pull into our terminal, and a parking attendant will give you a pass for your windshield and direct you to the parking lot where you will park for the duration of your trip. You then walk back to the terminal (which is really close by) and you’re all set. Easy peasy!

What do I do with my luggage?

Our parking attendants will take anything bigger than a tote bag for you and put it on our luggage carts. They will give you the luggage cart number so you can easily find your bags when you get to your destination. There is no extra charge for luggage.

Can I sit outside on the boats?

Yes, and on a beautiful day it is where you want to be! We have outdoor seating on all of our vessels.

Do I have to stay in the same seat the whole trip?

No, not at all, although on really full trips you may not find an empty seat once everyone gets settled.

Are there drinks and snacks onboard?

Yes! We have a  fully stocked snack bar with packaged and homemade goodies, bottled soda and water, and alcoholic drinks available for purchase.

Do you have a lost and found?

Yes – there is a lost and found in all of our ticket offices. If there is something you lost while aboard our vessels it will most likely end up in the lost and found at your destination. Just call the ticket office, and they will be happy to assist!
