Visiting the Islands

TOP

1)   What is there to do on the islands?

a.  Both islands offer picturesque beaches and charming towns full of shops, restaurants and points of interest.  Each island has its own lively night life too.  If you’re only there for the day, but want to see it all, then a bus tour is the best way. We have information about each island available on our web site. Click here for Nantucket and here for Martha's Vineyard. For more information on the islands check out each island's chamber of commerce web site: Nantucket Island Chamber and Martha’s Vineyard Chamber.

2)  Is there a tour of the islands available?

a.  There are bus tours available on both islands.  These tours take you all over the island and allow you to see the most in your limited time.  The Martha’s Vineyard tour is a fully narrated tour which takes approximately two and a half hours and covers all six Island towns. The tour includes a thirty minute stop at the Gay Head Cliffs in beautiful Aquinnah.  The Nantucket tour is a continuous, fully narrated tour which takes just over an hour.  It covers close to 65% of the island including The Old Mill, Sconset Village with its rose-covered cottages, Low Beach, Sankaty Head Lighthouse, the Nantucket moors and more.  Buy tickets for both tours at the ticket office or call (800) 492-8082 to book your bus tour with your ferry trip.

3)  What if I can’t choose between the two islands?

a.  If you’re having a hard time choosing which island to see, then why not see them both?  Hy-Line is the only provider of an “Around the Sound" excursion which departs from Hyannis and allows you to visit both islands in the same day.
